What Is Acetate? Acetate, or cellulose acetate, is a natural material derived from wood pulp and cotton. Although it is one of the oldest materials used in eyewear making, it remains one of the most prized for its versatility, durability and aesthetic beauty.
A History of Tradition Acetate has dominated the high-quality eyewear industry since the 1940s. Before that, frames were made of materials that became fragile and brittle over time.
Why Is Acetate Superior? Unlike common plastics, acetate is a natural material that breathes and adapts to body temperature. Acetate glasses become more comfortable with wear, subtly moulding to the shape of your face.
